GATES MCFADDEN is an actress, choreographer, director and teacher. Acting credits include 6 years and four films portraying Dr. Beverly Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Other films include “Taking Care of Business”, “The Hunt for Red October”, “Muppets Take Manhattan”, “Crowned and Dangerous”, short films “Mattresside”, and “Follow the Numbers”, and 2016 music video by Onsen. New York acting credits: Tommy Tune’s production of Cloud Nine, The Homecoming at JRT, Emerald City at NY Theater Workshop, How to Say Goodbye at Vineyard Theatre, Midsummer Night’s Dream at the NY Shakespeare Festival, Couch Tandem at WICA, title role in New York EST‘s two productions of To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday. In Los Angeles, Viva Detroit at LATC and EST-LA’s The Shore, and recently, “Unbound” by Daryl Williams. Television credits include lead in UPN’s Marker, recurring role on CBS’ Mad About You, guest star Dream On, Franklin and Bash, among many others. As a narrator she has worked for conductors Kent Nagano and Leonard Slatkin. Ms. McFadden worked for Jim Henson and was Director of Choreography and Puppet Movement for the films Labryinth, and Dreamchild. Choreographer in Residence for the BAM Theater Company under David Jones. Teaching positions have included NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Brandeis University, U of Pittsburgh, AADA, Harvard, The Stella Academy in Hamburg, and USC where she was awarded the George Burns Teaching Fellowship. Ms. McFadden built the AVT Theatre in LA when she was Artistic Director of Ensemble Studio Theatre LA. In this three theatre space, she produced and directed many award-winning productions including “House of Gold” by Gregory Moss, “The Ugly One” by Marius von Mayenburg, “The House of the Rising Son”, by Tom Jacobson, and “Tree” by Julie Heber.
